Studio Makeover: We're Revamping!


We are very excited to announce some BIG changes coming to our RTR Pilates studios!
As you may have noticed, some of the pilates reformers and equipment are in need of an update. We have brand new pilates reformer beds, pilates foot straps, and props on the way for Chevy Chase (Wisconsin Place), Potomac, and Palisades!
Our Wisconsin Place, Chevy Chase Pilates studio will be getting more than just new beds and balls -- we will be remodeling the studio completely in an effort to expand the main pilates studio area, allow more space between pilates reformers, and make the studio feel lighter and more open overall! 

To facilitate these changes, we will be closed for the following dates:

  • Potomac: Saturday, August 26th

  • Palisades: Sunday, August 27th

  • Chevy Chase (Wisconsin Place): Monday, August 28th - Monday, September 4th

5 Things To Do Before Taking Your First RTR Pilates Class // by Molly Solebello

So you’ve scheduled your first RTR Pilates class—now what?! Here are 5 helpful tips to “know before you go” to make sure you have the best experience possible:

1.) Read our FAQ page: The FAQ page contains helpful information such as our cancellation policies, No Show policies, and class levels. We strongly recommend all clients start out in a Level 1 Class to ensure you get the attention you need and avoid any injury. It’s also the best way to learn our contemporary approach to reformer Pilates!

2.) Arrive to the studio 5-10 minutes prior to the start time of class. Our classes start on the 15 minute mark of every hour, so arriving between :05-:10 will allow you to observe the end of the class before yours and give you time to talk to the instructor between classes.

3.) Make sure you have grip socks! We require all clients to wear socks with grip on the bottom for safety and hygiene. We carry Toe-Sox and Tavi Noir grip socks, which are available to purchase via our self-service retail kiosks located at each studio.

4.) Let the instructor know it’s your first class and inform them of any injuries you may have. Getting to the studio 5-10 minutes early will allow ample time for you to meet the instructor, have them show you the Allegro II Reformer we use, and discuss any injuries you may have. Informing the instructor of injuries allows them to provide modifications for you throughout class to make it more enjoyable!

5.) Have an open mind and be ready to work hard! We are a contemporary, group reformer Pilates studio. Our Pilates classes are designed to make you work muscles you didn’t know you had in a choreographed 55 minute flow around the Allegro II reformer. Each instructor approaches class differently, and no two classes are ever the same. We challenge our clients to get in touch with the mind-body connection of classical Pilates while making it fun and energetic!

Which Athletes Cross Train with Pilates // by Lindsey Crane

In a departure from the "that's just for girls" mentality, the Pilates method has become popular among professional athletes looking for an edge and a way to cross train their bodies. The Washington Redskins and the Pittsburgh Steelers have both incorporated Pilates exercises into their training regimens. Like yoga, Pilates can improve flexibility, balance and strength. Unlike yoga, Pilates focuses mostly on strengthening the core and postural muscles. 

Chicago Bears
tight end Martellus Bennett, enjoys Pilates as often as he can.

For Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, Pilates is an integral part of his training routine. Brown said that this whole-body approach, including the feet, has helped him become more "elusive." In other words, the exercises have benefited his overall balance control, and "knowing how to get my feet where [I want] to go."

Missy Franklin is a swimmer with multiple world records under her belt. In the 2012 London Olympics, she earned a total of 5 medals of which 4 were gold, and 1 was bronze.

Pilates is great for core building, and it is what helps her to be a stronger swimmer with stronger balance and body awareness. She sincerely believes that it is her Pilates work outside the pool that helps her dominate in the water.

Who practices Pilates? An easier question might be, who doesn’t practice Pilates? Like many Hollywood starlets and a growing population of professional athletes, Pilates is for everyone! The reformer Pilates workout challenges your core and helps you to become longer, leaner, and overall more toned. Keeping with a regular Pilates regimen will get you sculpted abs, and a super sexy camera-ready figure. For this reason, and many more, celebrities are turning to the Pilates workout to get them in shape for celebrity events and movie roles.

Celebrities who LOVE Pilates:

Amanda Seyfried - Harley Pasternak, celebrity trainer, may be Amanda's weekday workout, but the actress told Self Magazine that Pilates is her go-to on the weekend for "stretching and toning and being long and lean."

Anna Faris - When Anna hooked up with LA Pilates instructor Nicole Stuart, she thought she was the last woman in Hollywood to discover the workout! On Pilates itself, Anna told InStyle Magazine that “it completely changed her body.”

Cameron Diaz - Cameron's longtime trainer Teddy Bass says that Cameron uses a mixture of Pilates, cardio, and weight training to stay in shape: "That seems to be the best combination for women over 30," he explains. "Women need weight — it's great for building the butt. And elongation and smallness is tapped by doing Pilates." When it comes to Pilates, Cameron does a combination of mat work and reformer Pilates as well.

Mandy Moore - For Mandy, Pilates is as much of a workout as it is a way to keep her happy. The actress told Women's Health that she does Pilates three to four times a week and that it's one of the ways she achieves balance, good health, and happiness.

Megan Fox - During a red-carpet interview for the Golden Globe awards, Megan told E!'s Giuliana Rancic that she stays fit by doing a lot of Pilates — "an immense amount of Pilates" to be exact.

Highlands Ranch's best Pilates studio RTR Pilates is hosting a Reformer Pilates Open House! This studio is located just south of Denver and is convenient from Greenwood Village, Aurora, Cherry Creek and the surrounding area!
