Valerie Wiest

New mom and longtime fitness enthusiast, Valerie, began doing Pilates over 10 years ago at age 14. A former dancer and self proclaimed “gym rat” Valerie’s dedication to fitness is apparent in her classes. Although Valerie graduated as a language triple major from the University of Maryland in 2009, she found her true passion in teaching fitness classes. Driven by her desire to instill a love of exercise in others, she got certified to teach through PHI Pilates. In her pursuit of being a better instructor, Valerie also got recertified through Peak Pilates in 2013. In addition to her Pilates certification, Valerie is an ACE certified personal trainer, certified Beyond Barre instructor, and a certified spin instructor.


As the mother of a young child Valerie knows that the best workouts are efficient, making the most out of the time you have. Her teaching style is a testament to the fact that fitness classes can be challenging, efficient, effective and fun. Valerie practices what she preaches and uses a combination of Barre method, pilates and cardio and weight training to stay in shape. And it works!-- Who else do you know that walked out of the maternity ward wearing their pre-pregnancy jeans?

Sara Pasquini

Sara, a native of Washington, D.C., loves creative movement. As a former acrobatic and rhythmic gymnast, she knows the importance of building and maintaining a very strong core as well as keeping an active body. Sara believes that Pilates should be fun and loves to keep her classes fresh and interesting. She joined Rock the Reformer by Potomac Pilates as an instructor in 2013 after completing the Potomac Pilates Instructor Certification program. After 2 years of hard work and study, she now holds a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Certification with Balanced Body, Inc.

Before joining the team Sara enjoyed a very successful 19 year career in real estate sales management and investment. She coached Human Relations and Public Speaking classes for the Dale Carnegie Institute for 6 years, traveled to the very far reaches of the world (Myanmar and Mongolia for starters) and managed to squeeze in a summer of teaching English in Ghana, West Africa.

Sara loves live music, dance and travel. She lives in Virginia with her husband, 2 children and 2 dogs.

Reina Offutt

Reina Offutt Pratt is both the creative mind and owner of Potomac Pilates Inc. For the past seven years, Reina has worked continuously to ensure a thriving business for both her employees, and her clients. With approximately 600 active clients, and 22 enthusiastic staff members, Reina has created the perfect environment where fun meets fitness. With three intimate, inspiring, and accessible locations, Reina plans to expand her business and personal goal to sculpt both the mind and body. Reina lives in Potomac, Maryland. She places a high importance on philanthropy. She firmly believes in giving back to the community, both personally, and professionally. Annually, Potomac Pilates donates more than $5000 worth of services to schools, charities, and organizations. Emphasizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle to all, Lulu lemon recently dubbed her their brand ambassador for 2013. The MOM-trepreneur is a proud member of the Potomac Chamber of Commerce, she was selected by the Mind and Body University panel as the 2012 success story, and for the past two years has raised over $20,000 and walked the runway for the Fashion for Paws charity event. Reina holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Tulane University (2001) and a Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University (2004). Reina is a mother of two young children, on her off time she can be found with her family incorporating her personal views on maintaining a healthy life style.

Joanne Gavula

Joanne’s journey to Pilates began as a client in 2013. An avid fitness enthusiast, tennis player and runner, Joanne began to feel that her weight training and cardio regimen had hit a plateau. Her work out routine had become too predictable and was getting stale. She needed a jump start so she set her sights on Pilates.
 
After her first month, she began to see uniform changes in her body that was the result of challenging specific muscles groups in a different way. More importantly, she had renewed energy and a deeper focus during her sessions that proved to be the key difference. Her strides piqued her interest to understand more about the discipline, so she enrolled in the training course offered through Potomac Pilates. “I learned that when you work your body without fully engaging your mind, fitness goals can be left unmet. The manner in which exercises are performed is much more significant than time spent." With a Master’s Degree in Education, Joanne’s decision to instruct was a natural progression. “My goal is to help clients realize that Pilates strengthens and nurtures the mind as well as the body, and is beneficial for everyone, regardless of their fitness level. It improves flexibility and develops a strong powerhouse which is the corner stone of movement in our daily lives.”
 
Joanne has two children who have since left the nest and lives in McLean with her husband Steve.

Tanya Edwards

Tanya discovered and fell in love with Pilates a few months after moving to Maryland. She attended both Mat and Reformer Pilates classes and was amazed at the “whole body” approach and results… leaving her with a feeling of strength and rejuvenation. She believed in the practice and the results so much that she wanted to share it with others and began teaching Mat Pilates and Yoga classes four and a half years ago. Since then, Tanya participated in and completed the inaugural Potomac Pilates instructor training course and now teaches reformer Pilates classes regularly for Potomac Pilates. She loves the relaxed atmosphere and family feel at the studios with both clients and fellow staff. Tanya especially loves meeting new clients and helping them progress in their Pilates practice. “I am continually amazed at how quickly a client can improve and see results from Pilates. That ‘aha moment’ is such a joy to see and I love being able to help our clients find their just-right challenge.”

Eden Ellis

Using the skills I have learned from being a Rock The Reformer client first and certified thru Balanced Body, I get to help clients discover what they are truly capable of physically and mentally. The longest and most important relationship we have during our lives is the one with our mind and body, Pilates is designed to bring both together to help us focus on being present in the moment. One of the crazy blessings in having emergency open heart surgery is how Pilates had kept me in shape before and helped me recuperate quickly after. It makes me so happy when a client achieves their true potential and has that beautiful “A-ha” moment in understanding what Pilates has done for them. I am so lucky to be a part of their journey!

Alex Ansu

As a lifelong athlete, after taking her first Pilates class at a Rock The Reformer studio, Alex knew that she had found a different kind of athleticism. Pilates helped to improve her running, prevented injury and she found all of that happened within a short time. The machine’s potential for an infinite number of movements and exercises blew Alex’s mind. The rest is history!

Cathy Sharma

Cathy discovered Pilates as a way to improve her strength and flexibility. After years spent weight training, playing golf, downhill skiing and practicing Tae Kwon Do, she loved the way Pilates helped improve her knee and hip injuries and improve her muscle strength while promoting balance and alignment. But more importantly, she discovered that Pilates is fun!

Trained in mat and reformer through Balanced Body and a member of the Pilates Method Alliance, Cathy loves teaching ALL levels of Pilates because of the results it provides as well as the way it connects the mind and body. Cathy has a Master’s degree in speech/language pathology and loves to spend time with her husband, three children and three dogs at their home in Potomac.

Leeor Pilo

Leeor's passion for Pilates began the moment she looped up for her first class. The emphasis on muscle lengthening and core provided a challenging workout that she couldn't get enough of, she was hooked! Leeor trained with RTR Pilates Training in Fall 2013 and fell in love with Pilates even more. So much so, that in May of 2014 she left the corporate world to join RTR Pilates full time as the Director of Instructor Development. In fall 2017 she trained with STOTT Pilates as well to further develop her skills. 

Inspiring others to become Pilates instructors and overseeing the on-boarding process brings Leeor happiness and increases her drive to become a strong instructor in the class room and an even stronger trainer for her colleagues. 

When she is not training instructors or in the class room you can find her on 14th St. listening to local music, making jewelry for her company Vylet Collections, or at home curled up with her cat.

Lisa Johnson

I joined the RTR Pilates team in 2011 as a trained Pilates instructor through Balanced Body. I have an extensive background in exercise, dance and yoga with experience teaching students of all ages and levels of ability in both studio and private settings. I also teach structural and functional anatomy for both yoga and pilates teacher trainings and I hold a BFA in Dance from the University of California.

Jordan Matosko

Jordan is a teacher for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She found that her job, while rewarding, could also be pretty stressful. She was never super into fitness, but was looking for something to help calm her mind and spirit after those long stressful days. Jordan had tried many different workouts and classes, but nothing ever stuck. Then her friend, who was an instructor at the time, recommended trying a class at Potomac Pilates. After that first class, she was hooked. Jordan loved that she had an hour every day where she could unplug, unwind, and focus on getting her mind and body healthy. Her love for Pilates, and the entire Potomac Pilates team never stopped after that. She continued to take classes regularly and decided that she had to join this hardworking, dedicated team! She hopes to help other’s find the amazing release that Pilates has brought to her own life.
New to Pilates? Need a gentler workout? This class is for you. This 55-minute long Performance Pilates class uses the Balanced Body Allegro II Reformer to teach proper alignment and the fundamentals of Pilates. We incorporate traditional Pilates principles with innovative strength training and cardio exercises to give you a total body workout that will strengthen and lengthen your muscles. This class focuses on the basics and is designed to leave you feeling refreshed while also helping to improve strength, flexibility and core stability.
